This book argues that literacy makes up an organizing principle for foreign language teaching and it tries to put linguistic, literary, cultural, and cognitive theory on a productive parity with classroom practice, considering major research results in language acquisition, literacy studies, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics and cognitive theory.
