This paper discusses how the draft of the K-16 Student Standards for Learning Esperanto in the United States, improves students' first language literacy abilities, whilst their early successful second language acquisition of Esperanto, motivates and prepares students to study Spanish, French, Italian, German, or other ethnic languages when they get the opportunity.
