This paper explores whether focus constituents in Latin are positioned according to Firbas (1992)' principle of ‘communicative dynamism’ and claimed for Latin by Panhuis (1982). Examples in Latin are then compared with their translations into Czech. Findings show various differences between Latin and Czech regarding both the position of focus constituents and their anaphoric continuation.
