Annotation

Using systemic functional linguistics, Bakhtinians' dialogic literacy and interaction in writing, this article explores the interpersonal aspects in argumentative/persuasive essays from interactive, interactional and interpersonal meaning perspectives. This framework offers English as a second language teachers tools that enable them to guide students in successful academic essay writing by meeting academic audiences' expectations both in structure and language characteristics.
