Annotation

This paper explores the links between storytelling and micro and macro contexts, demonstrating in casu that the narrative activities occurring in an Italian American card-playing club also articulate facets of the broader social context. Thus narrative activity can be considered as one of the symbolic practices (Bourdieu 2002 [1977]) social groups engage in to struggle for legitimation and recognition in order to gain more symbolic capital and social power.
