This paper proposes a methodological framework for the comparison of evaluation resources across academic texts, that distinguishes between evaluation resources occurring on rhetorical, propositional, and metadiscoursal levels. Using this framework for the crosslinguistic quantitative examination of comparable texts and propositions would help to determine to what extent the usage of evaluation resources usefully varies as a function of the language.
