Annotation

This article examines the link between the speech act of complimenting and cultural conceptualizations by investigating to what extent Persian speakers' compliment responses in their first and second language (English) are defined by the Persian cultural ‘modesty’ schema. Findings point to the dynamic nature of the link between language and cultural conceptualizations.
