This paper addresses impoliteness from a discursive perspective, in which impoliteness conceptualizations are construed in real-time interaction processes. It also proposes to replace the term impoliteness in these contexts by terms such as rude or aggressive. The paper contributes to the broader theory of relational work which recently emerged from politeness studies.
