This paper discusses how the Kun-dangwok clan lects of western Arnhem Land, are the result of an Ausbau process of Aboriginal Australian minority languages. As these mirror an Aboriginal linguistic ideology according to which different ways of speaking are considered as crucial identity aspects, Asbau here results as the contrary of language standardization and enhaces the gap between varieties.
