Annotation

This paper shows the phenomenal role played by fashion, as a means of communication, within contemporary society, in particular in televised media. It employs semiotic and fashion theory to examine the use of fashion in the popular American television soap ‘Sex and the City', which, despite its reputation, appears to continue gender-grounded and cultural stereotypes.
