This paper explores the hypothesis that language loss signals cultural loss, assessing first and second generation Indo-Canadian Hindi speakers' Hindi and English competence, and linking these to their behavior in a matched-guise task, representing culturally charged English and Hindi scenarios. Cultural shift did not seem to be mediated by language shift.
