This artice addresses language vitality and cultural hybridisation in the indigenous, transnational and partly diasporic Sami ethnic speech community and their media. It is argued that indigenous Sami media form a nexus where global and local forces interact, generating simultaneous, yet partly contradictory processes of cultural Sami identity reinforcement and hybridisation.
