This paper briefly discusses the relevant languages and recent language policies in the post-Soviet Republic of Moldova. It is argued that, notwithstanding the challenges to language diversity (majority and minority language groups) and Moldovan-Russian bilingualism, there are still opportunities for language policy compromise and for enhanced national and regional stability.
