Annotation

This paper proposes a theory of linguistic inequality under globalization conditions. Throughout analyses from police interviews with immigrants, witness statements in the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and data from classroom learning contexts in South Africa and Belgium, it is shown that detailed attention to poetic patterning is needed to reconstruct the voices of people that would otherwise not be heard.
