Annotation
This paper focuses on the perception of 'persuasive messages' on billboard advertising by a group of semi-urban or rural (black) South Africans from differing educational levels. Findings demonstrate that consumers react positively to billboards supporting products they have been relying on; yet traditional values folklore and usages have to be taken into account by advertisers for efficient communication.
