This article discusses the findings of original research on the reconstruction of a personified 'portrait' of Russians according to South African university students' perceptions. It emphasizes the scientific and general educational significance as well as the methodological and practical value of this ethno-psycholinguistic modeling of the Russian national identity. Some possibilities are also indicated for employing the research findings in the teaching of the Russian language, culture and literature to foreigners.
