This study explores the interrelationship between media exposure (and other factors) and the extent of distrust towards the existing and future Hong Kong political regimes, and attitudes towards Hong Kong's 1997 transition. A key finding is that television news exposure is associated with trust in the People's Republic of China (PRC) among men and those with a middle to high socio-economic status, whilst regardless of news exposure, women and youth seem to distrust the PRC.
