This article discusses the establishment , effects and implications of overseas editions of some Hong Kong newspapers, considered as econo-cultural spin-off, in the light of Hong Kong's upcoming political transition in 1997. The recently established Canadian editions of Ming Pao are chosen as example to contrast with the earlier established World Journal and Sing Tao.
