This paper argues that whilst Hong Kong's communication research environment is facilitative, its small size restricts the output volume and specialization scope. It calls for a widening of the research direction and the establishment of a communication policy forum that encourages exchanges among media practitioners, academics, policy-makers, and interest groups.
