Annotation

Employing a case study of New Zealand editorial discourse on genetic engineering, this paper discusses how discursive features of news facts reporting affect opinion expression in editorials. It then examines how editorials reach their persuasive goals, and how news headlines, topics and the editorial structure, all add to the public discussion of major societal issues.
