Annotation

This analysis of language attitudes and behavior among adolescent boys and girls in a rural Danish community, reveals more positive attitudes towards the language and culture of the local community and more non-standard ways of speaking in male informants. It is argued that a reconsideration of social identity theory and male and female identity constitution may significantly contribute to the traditional sociolinguistic approaches.
