Annotation

This comparison of the rhetorical structure of various Slavonic (Russian and Bulgarian) and English scientific texts, based on speech act theory, points to a number of differences due to variations in cultural background, thought patterns and academic writing traditions. Thus the hypothesis of universal, language-independent scientific discourse features is not fully supported.
