Annotation

This article discusses why some Japanese non-fiction writers are deliberately deploying various structural spoken discourse features in their writing. This vernacular style writing may be an attempt to connect with their readers, to reflect favorable societal views towards orality, or to show their creativity, innovation and anti-establishment ideology.
