This paper explores socio-demographic and linguistic factors affecting stall-holders' address to their customers in two low-status Beijing clothing markets, such as stall-holders’ age and sex, customers’ age and sex, and the topic of price. Special characteristics of this address form choice: the diversity of address nouns and the importance of pseudo-kinship terms.
