This second phase cross-sectional research explores secondary school students' Chinese-English interlanguage pragmatic development in Hong Kong, using a questionnaire eliciting requests. Ample evidence of pragmalinguistic, but little evidence of sociopragmatic development was found (only an increased usage of please in requests towards higher social status hearers).
