Annotation

In the dawn of the twenty-first century, research at the interface between linguistics and conversation analysis has gained the label interactional linguistics in Europe but also in a more global perspective. Overarching topics comprise the syntactic and sequential organization of turns and utterances, their prosodic features, and the lexico-semantics of interactionally central functional elements of language. From the point of view of pragmatics, research in interactional linguistics contributes to an empirically based understanding of language use and the dependency of linguistic form on social action, and vice versa.
