This paper explores whether Thomas's and Myers-Scotton's linguistic conditions favouring language shift or death, can be found in a sample of contemporary Welsh–English data. It is argued that the recent socio-political climate has promoted Welsh revitalization and that there is no threat to the future of Welsh, although vigilance remains necessary.
