This study explores determining factors and dimensions of Dutch dialect use in the Netherlands at the end of the 20th century, at both individual and regional levels. It discusses the tripartite scale of the “fields of dialect use”, and the impact of dialect socialization, dialect attitudes, gender, age, and urbanization and traditional life spheres variables.
