This study explores the sociolinguistic situation in three Caucasian language groups, i.e. Budukh, Kryz, and Khinalug, spoken in northeastern Azerbaijan near Mount Shahdagh. Although the situation is far from uniform in these three multilingual communities, Azerbaijani is definitively replacing the traditional languages.
