This paper outlines a general framework for exploring problems related to language use and acquisition, using a dynamic, cognitive linguistic approach which emphasizes language structure's temporal dimension as an aspect of cognitive processing. It then discusses various topics, comprising the abstraction, mental representation, and activation in usage events of linguistic units.
