Annotation

As Ethiopian immigrant parents in Israel disengage from their children's educational needs once schooling starts, often relinquishing intergenerational first language, culture and tradition transmission in favour of a yet inadequate second language devoid of ethnic or cultural values to be learned, this study argues that mutual respect and interaction between home and school literacy traditions could contribute to both children's and parents' confidence and literacy development.
