This paper examines the rhetoric of Singapore's four official languages, -i.e. English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil-, and the domestic distaste for Chinese 'dialects' and colloquial 'Singlish'. It employs historical and textual analysis to tackle constructed identity representation.
