This study discusses conflict and accommodation with regard to teachers' and learners' codeswitching between English, Taiwanese and Mandarin to successfully accomplish talk around monolingual English textooks in English as a foreign language classrooms in a southern Taiwanese university, in the light of the English only concept as perceived ideal teaching and learning method.
