Annotation

This paper explores how African mother tongue (MT) education contributes to a sort of citizenship education, repositioning local communities and promoting alliances at local, regional, national, and even global levels. The two examined cases of the Guinean N'KO schools and the Senegalese Ecole Communautaires de Base programs reveal different mother tongue education approaches and a broad impact even beyond the Guinean and Senegalese borders.
