Annotation

This paper discusses Chinese governmental plans to merge all minority mother tongue schools in China with Chinese schools by the end of 2008, but analysis of mixed bilingual schooling in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region reveals how this schooling type doesn't solve minority ethnic children's problem of low educational achievement.
