Drawing on Fairclough's intertextual approach of news discourse within the Critical Discourse Analysis paradigm, this study explores how intertextuality influences the discursive construction of national identities in the news discourse of two daily newspapers in the United States and China, representing crisis and conflict moments in American—Chinese relations.
