This study explores how the Military Junta's Final Document (1983) on the Fight against Terrorism and Subversion, is subsequently interpretated by both political and religious Argentinian actors in terms of its compatibility with the Catholic reconciliation proposal. It is argued that an implicit consensus allowing Catholic discourse to define the rules of political life, has strongly limited the autonomy of democratic political actors.
