This study argues that links between national imagination and television news' narrative conventions vary according to two different sets of narrative conventions at work. This is illustrated by the case of narrative structures in selected television news samples, broadcast in the Yugoslavian Socialist Federal Republic in the early 1990s, and by other cases from the U.K. and Israël.
