Annotation

This paper argues that source-of-information comprehension can vary according to culture and situation and examines the relationship of source-of-information to the interpersonal relationships and interactions encoded in speaker stance. It is demonstrated how the Spanish word diz(que) has been affected by Quechua to become a systematic reportative marker of evidentiality in Valley Spanish, a contact Spanish variety of central Bolivia.
