Annotation

This article examines the linguistic ideological work entailed in the analyses of Irish by This study argues that during the armed, early 20th century Irish independence struggle, MacNeill, cofounder of the Gaelic League, supported the heterogeneous variation of Irish spoken discourse even as he tried to consolidate Irish national identity via sameness claims.
