This critical genre analytic study explores the discursive and semiotic means used in Internet advertising to promote probiotics as a trustworthy 'tool' to strengthen the body's inner defence mechanisms and considers the whole as a nexus of interrelated discourses on nutrition, the body, biomedicine and science.
