Annotation
This paper examines to what degree the propaganda models of Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky, and the indexing model of W. Lance Bennett, are instructive in the case of the US news coverage of the peaceful indigenous-led Ecuadorean uprising in 2000, which mainly erroneously presented the affair as a purely military coup and a threat to democracy.
