This questionnaire-based study explores specific perceptions of 412 undergraduate American students, with regard to the veracity of television portrayals of African Americans' occupational roles, (negative) personality traits, low achieving status, and positive stereotypes. It is suggested that television may influence viewers' beliefs about African Americans in general.
