This paper examines how the extent and complexity of local information markets affect degrees of exposure to local, network, and cable television news, as well as exposure to talk radio, online news sources, and daily newspapers. Local news markets strongly correlate with individual-level news exposure patterns and regional information cultures affect news demand beyond the influence of demographic and market-level factors.
