This paper argues that the implementation of the new South African Language-in-Education Policy (LiEP) in selected secondary schools of Limpopo Province ought to be accompanied by a concurrent evaluation of contextual factors, in order to establish a 'fit' between the LiEP implementation and the province's complex sociolinguistic reality.
