This study discusses early signs of language shift from Chindali towards the official Swahili language in southwestern Tanzania. Recommendations for Chindali language maintenance include: promotional campaigns, cultural event organisation, using the Chindali language, collecting and publishing Chindali oral traditions with English and Swahili translations and conducting further research on and documenting the language.
