Annotation

The Botswana government plans to revitalize and sustain the country's different languages and cultural traditions by the year 2016, mainly by implementing reformed secondary school curricula (1998) within the educational system. Contrary to curriculum reform efforts though, many teachers actually ignore cultural topics, thus depriving learners of the vital knowledge, attitudes and abilities to understand themselves and (cultural) others, as teaching is defined by the requirements of national examinations.
