Annotation

Drawing on media system dependency and cultivation theory, this content analytic study shows that, in comparison to (and contrast with) real U.S. hospital data, hospital patients in U.S. TV hospital dramas (such as ER, Chicago Hope, and Grey's Anatomy) are mainly White, middle-aged men, with dramatic diseases and a very high mortality rate.
