This study explores how unaccomplished interpersonal needs because of loneliness (differentiated into emotional (family and romantic), social, situational, transient and chronic loneliness) are redeemed via mediated communication, and especially parasocial interaction. Results are discussed from a uses and gratifications approach, linking interpersonal and mass communication.
