Annotation

An attempt at developing a unified temporal theory of the categories of tense and aspect found in the inflectional systems of natural languages, making use of H.Reichenbach's (1947: 'Elements of symbolic logic') distinction between three temporal points, viz. 'point of speach', 'point of reference', and 'point of event'. The theory is illustrated in a case study of Kikuyu.
